Stock Up and Stock Down Chart

Abington Heights Defense

The Comets have been terrific and physical since a Week 3 scare against Valley View. In wins over West Scranton and Wallenpaupack, Abington Heights has limited the two opponents to a combined 310 total yards. Facing Wallenpaupack RB Joe DeFebo, who is the leading rusher in the LFC Division I, the unit contained him to 48 yards on 14 carries. And against West Scranton QB Tyler Hughes, who had been leading the LFC Division I in passing yards, the Comets held him to 96.

Lakeland offense

The Chiefs have been struggling since breaking out for 35 points against Carbondale in Week 3. Against Dunmore, Lakeland managed 10 first downs and only 189 yards of total offense. In a loss to Valley View, the Chiefs had 153 yards of total offense and eight first downs. They have combined to rush for 181 yards on 64 carries -- That is 2.8 yards per attempt.

Scranton running attack

Despite the unveiling of its spread offense, the Knights are beginning to establish themselves as a productive running team. Against Honesdale, Scranton averaged 10.7 yards per attempt. Brett Sweeting ran for 172 yards on 15 carries. The Knights followed that effort up with 254 yards on the ground against West Scranton. Again, Sweeting had a big day totaling 200 yards.

Montrose passing game

Montrose made headlines last season when Rob Volk threw for more than 1,000 yards, but this year has been a struggle establishing the pass. Last week, Volk did not complete a pass and had several catchable throws dropped in an 0-for-11 night against Scranton Prep. The Meteors will need a balanced attack this week against Dunmore.

Old Forge

The Blue Devils stock is rising across the state. This week, the Blue Devils made their debut in the Harrisburg Patriot-News state Class A rankings at No. 7. Old Forge, which is 5-0, is the third LFC team in the rankings. Abington Heights is No. 7 in Class AAA, while Dunmore is up to No. 2 in Class AA. Dunmore is also the No. 1 team according to the Pennsylvania Football News.
